Top 10 most-searched 2022 K-dramas on Google: Lee Min Ho barely made it?

As the end of the year is approaching, Google has revealed its rewind of 2022, including the top 10 most-searched K-dramas. 

Google recently revealed a comprehensive compilation of its search data within 2022 in all sorts of categories, ranging from politics, soccer, games, to entertainment. And the Top 10 most-searched K-dramas of the year have also been unveiled. 

10. Pachinko

Ranking No.10 is “Pachinko”, the drama that marked a grand comeback for Hallyu star Lee Min Ho. Starring various respected actors and actresses, the drama drew attention the day it was announced, and also introduced Lee Min Ho’s first villain role. 

While the actor delivered an outstanding performance in “Pachinko”, the series was exclusive to OTT platform Apple TV+, and thus did not manage to achieve huge commercial success. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful and well-executed project that deserves to be on many watch lists. 

9. Our Blues

Our Blues”, which features a star-studded cast consisting of Lee Byung Hun, Kim Woo Bin, Shin Min Ah, Han Ji Min, Cha Seung Won, and many more, is the 9th most-searched K-drama of the year. It boasts a simple plot of simple people in a seaside village, and yet delivers a plethora of meaningful messages.  

While “Our Blues” is a global sensation like many other series of the year, it offers a lot of food for thought, and paints a new picture for “healing dramas”. The series itself tackles many issues, yet provides happy endings in a realistic manner, all in a well-paced directing and beautiful cinematography. 

8. A Business Proposal

Landing in 8th place is “Business Proposal”, which experienced explosive popularity in the first half of 2022. 

It is no exaggeration to call “Business Proposal” a “dark horse”, considering that the series did not gain much attention in its initial production. However, the K-drama includes convincing chemistry, good humor, a decent storyline, and excellent acting, leading to its huge success. Its major cast members, including Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Se Jeong, Kim Min Kyu, and Seol In Ah have all become welcomed names after starring in the show. 

7. Reborn Rich

Currently taking the K-drama industry by storm is Song Joong Ki’s latest project “Reborn Rich”. Once again, the actor proves he has a knack for choosing successful work, and “Reborn Rich” is breaking records and achieving jaw-dropping sensationality and viewership ratings. 

With an intriguing plot, tight writing, and impressive acting performances, “Reborn Rich” is being widely-discussed by K-drama fans worldwide. Even as the series approaches its finale, there are a lot of questions to be answered, and events to look forward to.

Flaunting a top-star cast of Yoona and Lee Jong Suk, “Big Mouth” finds itself in the 7th position. All in all, while there are certain questionable plot details and unanswered questions, “Big Mouth” is a gripping series that provides an enjoyable watch. In addition, Yoona and Lee Jong Suk exude such explosive chemistry that it was hard to take the eyes off their excellent acting.

Coming in fifth place is “Twenty Five, Twenty One”, which excellently portrays teenage romance, struggles, and dreams, attracting the attention of the audience. The series successfully boosted the popularity of already famous stars to emerging faces in the industry such as Kim Tae Ri, Nam Joo Hyuk, Bona, Choi Hyun Wook, Lee Joo Myung. 

Despite its “unhappy ending”, the K-drama’s powerful and convincing acting performances still brought a gentle and soulful and even tear-jerking story to life.

4. All Of Us Are Dead

All Of Us Are Dead” depicts a survival story of a troop of students amidst a zombie apocalypse. Along with high-quality cinematography, the young cast impressed the audience with their impressive acting performances. Here, young actors such as Park Ji Hoo, Yoon Chan Young, Cho Yi Hyun, Park Solomon, Yoo In Soo, and Lee Yoo Mi brought a chilling and suspenseful story closer to the audience. 

The drama itself faced some controversial opinions, but “All Of Us Are Dead” managed to differentiate itself from other zombie-themed series by carefully integrating emotional values in life.

Amidst the romance stories dominating the K-dramaland, “One Dollar Lawyer” is a fresh breath of air that speaks of justice and real-life occurrences. 

Nam Goong Min’s flawless performance and quality script make the drama a must-watch and garners record-breaking viewership ratings. 

2. Narcos Saints

It came as a surprise for the crime thriller series “Narco Saints” to come in second place, surpassing many romantic dramas. The series also marks the highly acclaimed returns of Ha Jung Woo and Hwang Jung Min. 

The series is based on a real-life notorious drug dealer in Korea with a good amount of suspense. Ha Jung Woo and Hwang Jung Min’s performance were so great, viewers find themselves immersed in a series of action that cannot be missed.
