“Today’s Webtoon” is “the first K-drama to have the background and identity of the webtoon industry”

SBS’ new Friday and Saturday drama “Today’s Webtoon” (scripted by Cho Ye-rang, Lee Jae-eun/directed by Cho Soo-won, Kim Young-hwan) released its first teaser video on July 8th.
“Today’s Webtoon” is a drama that depicts the dynamic office life of the webtoon industry which has to update today’s webtoons daily, and the growth of a freshman webtoon editor who has just entered this world.
The teaser video released contains the excitement of the new employee On Ma-eum (played by Kim Se-jung), who just started her job at Neon Webtoon’s editing department, which is the heart of a webtoon For her, this is a fantasy world where everything she imagines will come true like real-life webtoon.
The video begins with cartoons that many have enjoyed since little, such as “Dooly,” “A Dauntless Team,” “Four Daughters of Armian,” and “Goong.” For Ma-eum, who dreamed of becoming an Olympic gold medalist, these cartoons were her driving force which helped her stand up again whenever she felt tired from practicing. Ma-eum then decided to join Neon Webtoon’s editing department after she realized her second dream of wanting to be part of the cartoon makers who comforted her like that in the past.
Seeing that her eyes are wide open and her face is full of joy and excitement, the company seems to be a fantastic space that makes her feel like being sucked into the webtoon and breathing along with the characters. This moment shows how sincere she is about the webtoon. The mixed fantasy video, whether the scene you are watching with your eyes is real or a scene from a webtoon, conveys the excitement from deep inside the heart of a new editor who gets to work with the cartoons that gave her a time of imagination and healing as a child. The cheerful background music raises the audience’s heart rate and amplifies their excitement.
The first teaser video shows the identity of this drama, which unfolds against the background of the webtoon industry for the first time in Korea.
