Surprisingly, the person who received the first proposal for the character “Moo-myung” (played by Chun Woo-hee) in the movie “The Wailing” was not an actress, but former 4Minute member HyunA.
It sounds like a joke, but director Na Hong-jin himself admitted this and revealed that he had HyunA in mind as Moo-myung.
When appearing on a variety show, HyunA also admitted that she had officially received a casting offer from the director. Director Na Hong-jin said, “I wanted to discover a new side of HyunA because I thought HyunA could show her passion on stage through acting.”
In fact, the director even came to HyunA’s agency and offered to cast her, but HyunA politely refused since she had no acting experience and felt burdened. Then, after the audition, he was able to cast Chun Woo-hee.
