Actor Lee Joo Yeon, a former member of After School, posted a video which she had taken with Big Bang member G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong) on social media. Amid the controversy over the deletion, the netizens have speculated that the video was shot in the past.
On May 30, Lee Joo Yeon uploaded a video of her with G-Dragon on her SNS. In the video, the two were making funny faces, using animal character filter. However, the video disappeared immediately.
In October 2017, G-Dragon also uploaded a similar video taken by an application and deleted it, sparking rumors of a romantic relationship.
Later in January 2018, Dispatch reported that the two met at G-Dragon’s villa on Jeju Island, saying they were in a romantic relationship. The agencies, however, denied the rumors.
In fact, rumors of a romantic relationship between the two have continued since 2016. On Oct. 25 of that year, G-Dragon shared a post showing he was riding a zip line Hawaii, and three days later, Lee Joo Yeon posted a video taken at the same place. At that time, G-Dragon’s agency YG Entertainment explained that they were just friends.
There was another hint. On November 2 of that year, G-Dragon posted a photo taken at a restaurant on Weibo. The next day, Lee Joo Yeon also posted a photo of what is believed to be the same restaurant on Instagram. Judging from the orange lighting and the tables in the restaurant, the two apparently visited the place together.
Rumors of a romantic relationship have been raised several times because of SNS photos and videos, but each time the two sides denied it and said they were “colleagues”
However, this time, the netizens suspect that the video posted by Lee Joo Yeon on May 30 was taken in Hawaii in 2016. A post titled “The video Lee Joo Yeon posted on her Instagram account was not recently taken” was shared on an online community on May 31.
The netizen’s claim is as follows: The outfits of Lee Ju Yeon in the photos posted on Instagram on Oct. 28, 2016, and those in the video uploaded on May 30 are the same. From white T-shirts to black cardigans to long necklaces, the clothes in the two pictures look similar.
Also, the video is similar to the one posted on G-Dragon’s Weibo on Nov. 2, 2016. Sunglasses, earrings, and tops look similar too. The netizens speculate that on May 30, Lee Joo Yeon uploaded a video of the two taken in Hawaii in 2016.
Some people commented: “Did she post it to recall the past?”, “Why did she post a video from 3 years ago?”, “Were they dating?”.
“It’s hard to confirm because it’s her private life,” said Lee Joo Yeon’s agency Mystic Story on May 31. YG Entertainment said they’ll announce a statement if they have one.
