The production team of “Turkids On The Block” apologized for causing racial controversies over Lee Yong Jin’s outfit

The Youtube content “Turkids On The Block” starring comedian Lee Yong Jin has recently been embroiled in a controversy over racism.

On September 12, STUDIO WAFFLE, the owner of the Youtube content ‘Turkids On The Block’, posted a long comment under their video.

At the beginning of their apology, the production team said, “We apologize for any inconvenience caused by Turkids On The Block’s clothing issue.”

They added, “After listening to your opinions, Turkids On The Block is currently preparing a new outfit.”

Except for the content that was uploaded already, it was announced that after asking for expert opinions, the production team would change the outfits to appropriate ones in their next videos.

Finally, they explained, “We would like to thank the viewers for their interest and opinions, and we will try our best to provide interesting content in the future.”

Earlier on September 10, in the video of Hyuna and Dawn, many foreigners left their comments criticizing Lee Yong Jin’s costume.

Lee Yong Jin was dressed up in the concept of “a Turkish ice cream man”. However, this outfit had no relation to Turkish culture.

A Turkish viewer pointed out, “As a Turkish, I feel uncomfortable with this concept. That’s not the traditional outfit of a Turkish ice cream man, but an Arab outfit.”

Other netizens also left their comments, saying, “We are not Arabs. We didn’t wear that clothes even during the Ottoman Empire times. Please respect our culture.”

Turkids On The Block‘ is a Youtube content based on the format of tvN’s show ‘Yoo Quiz On The Block’ in which comedian Lee Yong Jin appears as a host and interviews the guests.

After the controversy arose, the production team immediately uploaded their apology.
