The production team of “Street Woman Fighter” apologized for their using of an inappropriate opening song

The production team of “Street Woman Fighter” apologized for using an adhan, which contains Islam practice, as the opening song for the 1st episode.

Earlier, it was pointed out that one of the background soundtracks for the 1st episode of the show reminded the viewers of an adhan. An adhan is an Islamic call to prayer, although it has a musical rhythm that is recited at specific times throughout the day.

Therefore, Muslim viewers had intensely criticized the production team for their use of inappropriate soundtrack and demanded an apology from Mnet.

Early in the morning of September 9, the production team of  “Street Woman Fighter” posted an apology on their official Instagram:

“Hello, we are the production team of ‘Street Woman Fighter’.

We apologize for causing inconvenience related to the opening song of the show’s 1st episode.

The soundtrack was an electronic song that had already been registered on the official music sites, so the production team believed that the electronic sound of the song was suitable to express the program. Therefore, we want to tell you that there was no other specific reason for our choice of introduction song.

We apologize for unintentionally causing inconvenience as we didn’t recognize the high possibility of a special rhythm before using the song.

As a way to respect our audience’s opinions, the video will be re-uploaded after we replace the background music.

In the future, Mnet will continue to listen to more opinions from our viewers all around the world.

Thank you for loving and supporting our show “Street Woman Fighter” on Mnet.”
