The probation sentence for B.I (former iKON member) has been confirmed since he didn’t submit any appeal

iKON’s former member, B.I was sentenced to probation on charges of purchasing and using drugs. After the first sentencing hearing, neither the prosecutor nor B.I appealed.

On September 10, the 25-3 Criminal Agreement Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced B.I (real name Kim Han Bin) to 4 years of probation (3 years in prison if he commits again). He was also ordered to do 80 hours of community service, 40 hours of drug treatment lectures, and pay an additional fine of 1.5 million won.

According to the court on September 23, the judgment of the previous trial was confirmed as there were no appeals from either the prosecutor or B.I. It is said that the criminal trial can be appealed within 7 days from the date of sentencing and the appeal period for B.I’s case was until September 17. Therefore, the probation sentence for B.I has been confirmed.

B.I was charged with purchasing LSD and marijuana through A and administering some of them in April 2016.

At first, the prosecutor demanded a 3-year prison sentence for him. Then, the court decided to sentence him to 4 years of probation.

Meanwhile, A raised suspicions that B.I had been investigated on allegations related to drugs, but the investigation was thwarted due to the close relationship between YG and the police. A claimed that Yang Hyun Suk, former CEO of YG, had tried to cover up the case so A reported it to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in June 2019. After that, Yang Hyun Suk was handed over on trial on charges of attempting to subvert the investigation by threatening A. On August 13, Yang Hyun Suk’s side denied all the charges and claimed his innocence.
