The huge impact of BLACKPINK to YG Entertainment

News of BLACKPINK comebacks are always followed by rises in YG’s stock prices

As one of the top Kpop girl groups of the moment, BLACKPINK plays an extremely important role to YG Entertainment. With their beauty and talent, the 4-member girl group generated great amounts of profits for their managing agencies.

On July 6th, YG Entertainment confirmed that BLACKPINK is finally returning as a group after 1 year and 10 months since their last album “The Album”. The news quickly became a hot topic, raising the stock price of YG Entertainment by around 10%.

This is not the first time BLACKPINK’s comeback news helped raise the stock price of YG Entertainment. Previously, when they released “How You Like That”, followed by “The Album” and their online concert “The Show”, YG’s stock climbed over 14.3%, even surpassing SM and JYP. At the time, YG’s worth also reached its peak at 713.6 billion won, the highest since Seungri’s scandal.

In 2019, while the entire of YG seems to be shrouded in gloom following the “Burning Sun” scandal of former BIGBANG member Seungri and former CEO Yang Hyun Suk, BLACKPINK was said to “have carried the company”. Their comeback with “Kill This Love” raised the stock buy by 5.12%, a remarkable growth during YG’s troubled era.

While YG Entertainment also manages other successful artists like AKMU, iKON, WINNER,, TREASURE, their once pillar BIGBANG is mostly absent, making BLACKPINK the reason they remained a Big 3 company.

Alongside musical successes, BLACKPINK are also familiar names in other realms like acting, variety show, fashion, and advertisement, with all members being Global Ambassadors of luxury brands like Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Calvin Klein, Celine, Bvlgari, and more. The amount of money earned from these contracts is no small number, making BLACKPINK the top earning artist of YG.

With BLACKPINK’s comeback and world tour approaching in the near future, fans are crossing their fingers for YG to give the girl group the grandest promotions that they deserve.
