The late Iron passed away on January 25, 2021 at the age of 29.

According to the police, at 10:25 AM on January 25, 2021, a security guard discovered Iron lying in a flowerbed outside an apartment complex, bleeding. He was taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. An investigation revealed the apartment complex was not Iron’s residence, though the reason for this was undisclosed. Foul play and homicide were ruled out, and at the request of the family, a post-mortem was not carried out.

Appearing on Mnet’s “Show Me The Money” season 3 (2014), Iron was recognized for his skills and finally took runner-up. Moreover, the song “Malice“, which he performed in the semifinals, was so popular that it swept the top spot on various music charts. Afterwards, Iron established himself as a musician by releasing his debut single “blu” in 2015 and his full album “ROCK BOTTOM” in 2016.

However, he was embroiled in many controversies during his lifetime.

In 2016, Iron was convicted of smoking marijuana and received a sentence of 8 months, suspended for 2 years.

In 2018, he was convicted of multiple counts of assault against his ex-girlfriend. It was stated that he had hit her in the face during sex, causing fractures; he also strangled her when she attempted to end the relationship, as well as injuring himself with a kitchen knife and threatening to blame it on her. He then revealed her identity in media interviews during the court process and publicly defamed her, calling her a masochist and denying any wrongdoing.

Iron once uploaded a post on his SNS, saying,

“I had a lot of time to look back on my life for a long period of 4 years. I was sick, unfair, angry, sad… at the end, I had myself. I had choices that I had to take responsibility for. I realized that many of the things I thought were ‘cool’ were my own clumsy definitions that didn’t apply to society, and I was worried about what kind of mindset I should take in the future. It seems that you only realize what is right and what is wrong only when you experience it.”

However, in December 2020, he was again placed under arrest for assault with a baseball bat against his roommate, who was a minor at the time.

Iron then died suddenly while being investigated. Accordingly, the case was closed with no right of prosecution.
