The court requested a 3-year sentence for B.I on the charge of purchasing and using illegal drugs

Earlier in 2019, following the news broke that iKON’s leader B.I allegedly attempted to purchase marijuana and LSD in 2016, the idol announced his departure from the group.

In the first trial on the morning of August 27, the Seoul Central District Court’s prosecutor requested a sentence of 3 years in prison and a fine of 1.5 million won for the former iKON’s leader.

B.I was accused of purchasing marijuana and LSD through former trainee Han Seo Hee in April-May 2016 and using it many times.

The controversy broke out in 2019, causing B.I to apologize and leave iKON. Former YG Entertainment’s chief Yang Hyun Suk also had to appear in court for the accusation of threatening witness Han Seo Hee to change testimony in favor of B.I. Korean media reported that the male rapper admitted his wrongdoing and filed a petition for leniency before the first trial took place. It is expected that B.I will appeal the court’s first instance judgment.

“I can’t go back to the past to fix my mistakes, but I’ve thought about how I could improve and help create a better society for the rest of my life” – B.I’s statement via IOK Company.
