The Chinese entertainment industry has recently experienced an intense clean-up, blacklisting and dealing with a series of Chinese celebrities with scandalous personal lives, who are entangled in severe controversies. The decisions to ban were constantly issued, putting an end to the careers of many artists.
Notably, The National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) continued to issue new guidelines for celebrities, including a controversial detail that is demanding an end to “effeminate aesthetics“, “unusual aesthetics“, strictly control the selection of actors, guests, performance styles, outfits and makeup, etc. This means that Chinese entertainment will be more tough towards male artists in expressing themselves.
While these new restrictions caused a stir and received mixed reactions on social media, recently, netizens are surprised by the makeover of two famous male stars, Huang Zitao and Wang Yibo. On social media, the former EXO member shared a series of photos showing off his hot body in the gym. Fans are taken aback by the male singer’s toned muscles, because Huang Zitao was previously known for his skinny body.
In the past, Hoang Zitao often wore bold makeup, emphasizing the eyes and lips. His previous image is now said to be inconsistent with the new regulations issued by the NRTA against “effeminate” men.
Additionally, “Zhao Liying’s rumored boyfriend” recently surprised fans as well. The site QQ on September 8 published an article titled: “Wang Yibo got rid of the effeminate look, had a haircut, wears lighter makeup during recording, his new image is full of masculinity”.
