Singer Sunmi mentioned her family story on SBS’s “My Little Old Boy”.
Sunmi participated in the October 10th episode of SBS’s ‘My Little Old Boy’. A scene in which she expressed gratitude towards her stepfather was aired. On this day, Sunmi revealed that she has two younger brothers. Shin Dong-yeop admired, “From the perspective of her younger brothers, I would be very happy if my older sister were Sunmi.”
Sunmi bragged, “The kids didn’t tell people around them about me because they’re afraid that it would be hard for me.” Shin Dong-yeop hinted, “They’re famous. They’re tall and handsome because they resemble their older sister.” After that, the show revealed some photos of Sunmi and her younger brothers.
Shin Dong-yeop wondered, “I heard that the thing you say the most to your younger brothers is ‘Do you have any money?’ What does that mean?” Sunmi explained, “‘Do you have any pocket money left to spend?’ I ask like that.“
Shin Dong-yeop continued to ask, “What did your younger brothers say?“. Sunmi replied, “They’re so nice. I don’t think they have money. They’re at an age when they always lack money no matter how much they have, right? However, they’re so admirable. They just said ‘No. Sis, I have money. Don’t worry and just eat more delicious things’, although I’m the older sister who can give pocket money to my younger brothers.“
Then, Shin Dong-yeop asked, “I heard that when your father wrote his last letter, he said ‘Please be my daughter in the next life as well.’” Sunmi answered with tears in her eyes, “Our father has been very ill since we were young. My second younger brother and I took care of him for a really long time. He passed away when I was a trainee in Seoul. I received the letter after he went to heaven. He wrote, ‘Please be born as my daughter in the next life as well.’“
Sunmi expressed the longing for her father, “I came to Seoul after promising to support my family, but I still felt guilty that I wasn’t there at that precious moment which will never happen again.“
Sunmi then mentioned her stepfather, “I let him go that way, and in fact, my father who is in heaven is my biological father. Now we have a stepfather. The time I have spent with him has grown longer and longer now. I want to say that he raised all three of us, who are not even related to him, with dedication. I’m very grateful for that.”
Shin Dong-yeop encouraged, “You’re bright and passionate on stage, but I feel like you’re full of something. I feel like you’ve grown up very early. Because good adults were with you“. Hearing this, Sunmi said, “My dad and mom are going to see this. Thank you so much, daddy. I love you.”
