On May 27th, he said through the film company’s social media, “Cannes has a new town and an old town. The old town is very pretty. For those coming to Cannes, I recommend the old town.

He continued, “I don’t like champagne. But in Cannes, rosé champagne is a symbol. It was so delicious yesterday that I took a sip then kept pouring it. Cannes is rosé.”

Song Joong Ki was scheduled to attend the official screening of “Hopeless” with his wife Katy. However, Katy did not walk on the red carpet, judging that the movie’s violent scenes would not be good for the pregnant woman and baby. Katy is currently 9 months pregnant.

Meanwhile, “Hopeless” is a noir drama that tells the story of Yeon Gyu (Hong Sa Bin), a boy who wants to escape from the hellish reality, after he met a gang’s middle boss, Chi Geon (Song Joong Ki), and joined the dangerous world.

After the premiere at Debussy Theater in Cannes on May 24th, Song Joong Ki shared his thoughts, “I was very satisfied after watching the movie because I think the story was portrayed more deeply than the feelings I got when reading the script. Especially when I saw the expression on Yeon Gyu’s face as he looked at Chi Geon’s ear from behind at the reservoir scene, I was convinced that the emotions I felt when I first read the script were accurate. It made me think, ‘I made the right choice to be a part of this film.’ Thank you to all our staff and actors, and I hope that ‘Hopeless’ would receive a lot of love.
