In June 2019, Song Joong-ki filed an application for divorce from the Seoul Family Court. Song Joong-ki, saying “I’m sorry to deliver bad news to many people who love and care for me. I will repay you with good work by getting rid of my current wounds and doing my best as an actor.”

The news of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo’s divorce shocked the public. Since they are known as the couple of the century, divorce after 20 months of marriage was unimaginable. However, the public supported Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo’s choices.
