Actress Song Hye Kyo has been doing a meaningful donation for 11 consecutive years.
Seo Kyung Deok, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University, recently donated another 10,000 Korean guides overseas. He also reported on Dec 23rd that Song Hye Kyo recently donated 10,000 copies of the Korean guidebook to the Old Korean Legation in Washington, D.C.
Professor Seo posted a long message on his Facebook page, saying, “To mark the 140th anniversary of the diplomatic relation between South Korea and the U.S., actress Song Hye Kyo and I have donated 10,000 Korean guides to the Old Korean Legation in Washington, D.C.”
“This guide was also translated into English, and it is provided in the orientation room on the first floor to help the convenience of various visitors,” he said. “The guide includes the introduction of the Old Korean Legation, major history, exhibition rooms, and the independence movement of Korean-Americans during the Japanese colonial era.”
He then said, “We wanted to properly inform domestic and foreign visitors of the history of the Old Korean Legation in Washington, D.C., so we decided to produce and donate this guidebook.”
Professor Seo said, “The situation of Korean historical sites remaining abroad is not very good due to the prolonged pandemic,” and stressed, “The more this happens, the more we need to share our interest and visit our historical sites. If it is difficult to visit the Old Korean Legation in Washington, D.C., you can download the original file from the ‘History of Korea’ website.”
On top of Professor Seo’s dedication, Song Hye Kyo has been supporting him for 11 years. So far, they have donated Korean guides, Korean sign boards and relief works to a total of 33 overseas historical sites.
Professor Seo has often expressed his gratitude to Song Hye Kyo, who has been participating in donations with him for a long time, saying, “She is setting a good example for how a Hallyu star can contribute to the country.”
At the end of his post, Professor Seo expressed his gratitude, saying, “Hye Kyo! Let’s work hard next year as well.”
Song Hye Kyo is set to return through Netflix’s original series “The Glory,” which will be released on Dec 30th.
