Son Ye Jin’s new drama “Thirty Nine” premiered to a decent rating and positive reviews

Airing the same time as the Beijing Olympics, the first episode of “Thirty Nine” still records a promising rating.

On December 16, episode 1 of Son Ye Jin’s latest drama “Thirty Nine” was broadcast, giving a brief overview of the personalities and backgrounds of the three female lead characters. Although it started airing amid the Olympics in the middle of the week, the premiere of “Thirty Nine” still earned a promising rating of 4.45%, as high as JTBC’s weekend drama “Forecasting Love and Weather”. This achievement also helps “Thirty Nine” enter the top JTBC dramas with the highest opening rating.

Beside a good rating, “Thirty Nine” also drew positive reviews online, receiving countless compliments from the viewers. If at first the drama’s attraction was mainly thanks to the appearance of Son Ye Jin, after episode 1 aired, the viewers have begun to focus on other characters’ stories. The drama also makes viewers confused by teasing the departure of a female lead right in episode 1.

Thirty Nine” airs every Wednesday and Thursday night on JTBC.
