Son Seok Gu mentions his mother, “She had depression during pregnancy. Her only joy was eating naengmyeon”

Actor Son Seok Gu told an anecdote about his mother on “Heo Young Man’s Food Travel”.

Son Seok Gu appeared on TV Chosun’s travel program “Heo Young Man’s Food Travel” broadcast on April 14th.

He introduced a naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles) restaurant that has captivated the taste buds of Daejeon natives for more than 70 years. They ordered bulgogi and naengmyeon.

The actor then confessed, “I have lots of memories with this restaurant”.

He shared, “When my mother was pregnant with me, she moved here, to Daejeon, to live because of my father and had no friends. She had depression during her pregnancy, and her only joy at that time was coming to this restaurant to eat naengmyeon alone. Mom said she ate lots of naengmyeon when I was in her womb. I think that’s why I really like naengmyeon.” 

In the meantime, actress Choi Yoon Young was also sitting there. She asked, “Why did you come so late? I’m so hungry. It’s been 5 or 6 months since I last met you”.

When Choi Yoon Young appeared on the program last year, Heo Young Man told her that he wanted to invite Son Seok Gu, her close acquaintance, as a guest.

Choi Yoon Young said, “We met each other for the first time through ‘Designated Survivor: 60 Days’. It’s been 5 years”. Son Seok Gu jokingly said, “There was a somewhat flirting atmosphere between us back then”. Choi Yoon Young laughed and reacted, “Really? I’ve never heard of it before”.

In response, Son Seok Gu continued joking, “It didn’t work. I really can’t act flirting”.
