Somi confessed the reason why she left JYP to join The Black Label and debuted as a solo artist

Singer Somi talked about what made her decide to move to a new company.

On November 5th, a video titled “Jeon Somi prefers coming out to Turkids rather than coming out of JYP” was uploaded on the Youtube channel “Studio Waffle”.

In the released video, when Lee Yong-jin asked, “You were in JYP then left, right?”, Jeon So-mi answered, “This is my first time receiving this question. It seems like people were cautious, so they didn’t ask me anything. Just ask me”. Then, Lee Yong-jin made a small joke by saying, “I heard people have started writing malicious comments about JYP since you came out of the company.

Upon hearing that, Somi said, “I think after my activities with I.O.I ended, I hadn’t had any schedules for a long time. Somehow I ended up in YG”. After that, Lee Yong-jin asked, “Do you regret it?”. Somi drew attention by replying, “Absolutely not. My current company is really good. I love it 100%. It’s on the highest level of my satisfaction.

Lee Yong-jin continued with another question, saying, “I’m curious about why you eventually debuted as a solo singer. You even joined “Unnies” (a project group formed on the show“Sister’s Slam Dunk”) but became a soloist in the end. I want to know the reason”. Jeon So-mi shared, “After leaving my old company, I came to the new one, and I was the only artist there. I think that was why I naturally ended up being a solo singer.

Then, Lee Yong-jin was surprised, and he asked, “Who are the artists? In your company, at the moment” so Somi mentioned Zion.T. Lee Yong-jin made everyone burst into laughter by jokingly saying, “You two could have made a group. Just like AKMU. It could be Zion.Somi”

Meanwhile, after terminating her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment in August 2018, Jeon So-mi signed with YG’s music label – The Black Label, then debuted as a solo singer a year later, in 2019.
