SBS was the best broadcaster to produce dramas this year.
According to the average viewership ratings for major channels’ dramas in 2021 in terms of households in the metropolitan area (analyzed by Nielsen Korea), SBS took first place with 11.6%. It was followed by tvN (6,1%), MBC (5,8%), KBS 2TV (5,2%) and JTBC (3,5%).
SBS ranked first for 2 consecutive years with a figure of 10.6% in 2020. Its 2049 (viewers from 20 to 49 years old) average viewership ratings, a key indicator of advertising officials which guarantees topicality and channel competitiveness, also topped the list with 4.9%.
In the drama TOP20 rankings, SBS swept the top spots with “Penthouse” season 1~3, “Taxi Driver” and “One The Woman“. tvN’s “Mr. Queen“, “Hospital Playlist 2“, “Vincenzo” and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” ranked 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th, respectively.
MBC announced the revival of its dramas as “The Red Sleeve“, which is currently airing, ranked 10th.
