SBS’ “Revenant” unveiled character posters of Kim Tae Ri, who is attracting attention with her unprecedented acting transformation.
In SBS’ new Friday-Saturday drama “Revenant” (written by Kim Eun Hee/ directed by Lee Jung Rim/ produced by Studio S, B.A. Entertainment), Kim Tae Ri plays the role of Gu San Yeong, a public prosecutor who has been preparing for the 9th-grade civil service exam. She gets entangled in mysterious deaths after receiving her late father’s belongings.
The character posters revealed 2 contrasting versions of Gu San Yeong: the “San Yeong version” showing her gradually being consumed by the shadow of the evil spirit, and the “evil version” depicting her completely overtaken by the evil spirit with a chilling smile. The posters symbolized the important role of the “shadow” as a means of identifying the evil spirit in the drama. Kim Tae Ri’s intense portrayal of Gu San Yeong was instrumental in generating attention for “Revenant”. Her unique and captivating facial expressions provided a fresh shock to viewers.
In approaching her character, Kim Tae Ri focused on the different situations in which Gu San Yeong and the evil spirit were placed. She discussed with the director and differentiated herself in various details such as movements, actions, hands and humming.
The central theme of Gu San Yeong’s narrative is “youth”. Kim Tae Ri said, “The writer mentioned that the story viewers will face at the end is ‘youth’. I’ve seen young people in their 20s who have no dreams in various stories, but I’ve never seen such a person in a Korean-style occult mystery work. I was curious about how such a character would be portrayed.”
Kim Tae Ri revealed the reason for selecting “Revenant”, “The Korean-style occult genre was fresh. I was curious about it, and above all, it seemed to be fun.”
Lastly, Kim Tae Ri hoped that “Revenant” will become a turning point in her life and acting career just like her previous works. She advised viewers to watch the drama with an open mind and immerse themselves in resolving the mystery alongside Gu San Yeong and Yeom Hae Sang (Oh Jung Se).
“Revenant” is a Korean-style occult mystery drama about a woman possessed by a devil and a man who can see the devil and seeks the truth behind the mysterious deaths surrounding the five bodies. It will premiere on SBS at 10 PM on Friday, June 23rd.
