Resuming activities after April’s bullying scandal, ex-member Lee Hyun Joo starts anew as an actress
Lee Hyun Joo, a former member of the girl group April, will begin carrying out acting activities in Studio1592 from now on.
Studio1592 recently released an official announcement, saying “We have signed a contract with actress Lee Hyun Joo”, adding “We will make every effort to support Lee Hyun Joo, who has both talents and potential, to become a great actress”.
Lee Hyun Joo made her debut as a member of April in August 2015 but left the group the following year due to personal reasons. However, she appeared on an idol audition program hosted by KBS2 in 2017, making people curious about her decision. Through the program, she was selected as a member of the project girl group UNI.T and continued her singing career for a while.
Later in February 2021, Lee Hyun Joo revealed that she left April because she was bullied by other members. However, the members all denied the allegation. Eventually, April disbanded in January last year, and the members have started pursuing their own paths.
Lee Hyun Joo, who is now a solo artist, has starred in various works, including KBS W’s drama “Our Neighborhood”, “The Witch Store”, “Love, Can You Deliver Today”, “Hanging On”, “Goedam Season 1”, “Touch Me if You Can”, “College Life That Everyone Wants”, etc.
After temporarily halting activities after exposing April’s bullying case, Lee Hyun Joo announced her new start by joining hands with Studio1592. Fans and netizens are looking forward to seeing what she will achieve after moving to a new home.
In addition to Lee Hyun Joo, Studio1592 is also managing actors Choi Beom Ho, Oh Ji Young, Kang Yeon Jae, Jang Kyung Ae, Kim So Ye, and Yoon Yeon Bin.
