Netflix’s upcoming series “Hellbound” promises to continue the success of the global hit “Squid Game”.
Recently, Netflix released a less than two-minute trailer for the upcoming horror thriller series, “Hellbound”. “Hellbound” features a talented cast including Yoo Ah In, Kim Hyun Joo and Park Jung Min. The drama is also produced by director Yeon Sang Ho, the father of the box office hit “Train To Busan”. Let’s explore some brief points you should know about “Hellbound”!
“Hellbound” depicts the story of poor people, who are faced with strange supernatural occurrences when otherworldly beings come to invade Earth, seemingly as a punishment for humans. The trailer starts with two children happily singing happy birthday to their mother, Park Jung Jae (Kim Shin Rok). The three characters are celebrating, without knowing that their joy will soon disappear because a terrifying being is hiding in their house, even warning that the mother will die after five days.
“Hellbound” is set in a time when Korean society is in turmoil. Jung Jin Soo (Yoo Ah In) is the leader of the religious organization, SaeJinRi Hwe, claiming that the mysterious phenomenon happening is a “visit” pre-arranged by God. Moreover, every person must find a way to survive this inexplicable horror “curse”.
In addition, Jung Jin Soo also “blames” humanity: “Why do people sin? Humans choose to sin and now God is punishing and taking away what you have done. God has found a way to directly show you what hell is like.” He also flashes a creepy smile, implying that something more horrifying is going to happen: “Welcome to the new world.”
On the other hand, lawyer Min Hye Jin (Kim Hyun Joo), who is smart and confident, always stands up against religious extremists, especially the SaeJinRi organization. Bae Young Jae (Park Jung Min) is the director of a broadcasting station who tries to investigate and find out the truth behind this religious group led by Jung Jin Soo.
The appearance of these three main characters in “Hellbound” is considered the highlight of the series and above all, Yoo Ah In’s top-notch acting. Through the trailer, many viewers expect “Hellbound” to become a second Netflix hit after “Squid Game”.
As soon as the new trailer was released, many netizens were taken aback because they did not recognize the male lead Yoo Ah In in his new role. The leader Jeong Jin Soo seems to be significantly different from his previous roles.
