Reaching 10 million copies after EXO but BTS is the artist set the century selling record in Korea
Only this year, BTS does not have any competitors in the album selling section.
On December 6th, Gaon (Korea’s national record company) released the list of 100 best-selling albums in November. Accordingly, EXO led the list with nearly 1.2 million albums “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” sold. With this achievement, the SM boy group has won the fifth consecutive millionaire title and is the first Korean group to have total album sales of over 10 million copies.

Another special thing is that, in this list, there are 12 albums of BTS appearing scattered in the top 50. This is contributing to the total album sales of the Bighit boy group to more than 10 million copies. BTS became the second Korean group to have total Korean album sales, surpassing that of EXO.

In addition, BTS’s latest album, “Love Yourself,” has sold nearly 2.17 million units by the end of November. This album has helped the Bighit boy band set the record for the best album selling artist of the 21st century (2001 – 2100) of Korea, and also reached the top 11 best-selling artists of all time in the history of music in this country.

It can be seen that the BTS is the monster dominating the album selling section in the Korean market when total sales of the group from 2016 to 2018 are more than double the previous year. Of the total 10 million copies sold by the group, nearly half of the album sales were sold separately this year (more than 5 million copies). This proves that BTS does not have any competitors in the album section.
