RBW responds to reports about Hwasa’s contract expiry and renewal, “It’s still under discussion”
The contract of Hwasa, who is active both as a MAMAMOO member and a solo singer, is drawing keen attention.
On May 23rd, JTBC exclusively reported that Hwasa’s contract with her current agency RBW will expire at the end of next month (June). According to the media, music industry insiders’ interest in Hwasa’s future after contract expiry is growing. Hwasa is said to be thinking about whether she should renew her contract with the current agency or move to a new one.
Regarding Hwasa’s move, JTBC said, “Since she has to focus more on individual activities rather than group promotions in the future, there are many ways for her to move to another company”.
In this regard, RBW issued an official statement through several media outlets, including Star News and Newsen, saying “Hwasa’s contract period has not ended”, adding “MAMAMOO is currently doing their U.S. tour, and we are still discussion on the contract renewal”.
At the moment, Wheein is the only MAMAMOO member to be under THE L1VE LABEL, while Solar, Moonbyul, and Hwasa are still represented by RBW. Attention is focused on whether Hwasa will stay or have a nice farewell with RBW like Wheein and continue her activities in a new place.
Meanwhile, Hwasa will appear on tvN’s “Dancing Queens On The Road” together with senior singers Lee Hyo Ri, Uhm Jung Hwa, Kim Wan Sun, and BoA. This program tells about a nationwide concert tour of top Korean artists who travel around the country, enter people’s daily lives, meet fans face to face, and enjoy music together. It will premiere at 10:30 p.m. on May 25th.
