Popular choreographer spoke up after being accused of recycling BLACKPINK and ITZY’s dance moves for aespa
As the creator of many BLACKPINK and ITZY’s hit choreographies, the overlapping dance moves in aespa’s Savage have caused the male choreographer to receive many criticisms.
On October 3, SM officially released the MV teaser for aespa’s upcoming title track Savage. In the teaser, a part of the song’s melody and choreography is revealed. Savage’s choreography already looks eye-catching but a dance move has already caught controversy.
Many netizens quickly accused Savage’s choreography of “copying” the dance moves of BLACKPINK’s How You Like That and ITZY’s Not Shy. These are the two famous songs of the YG and JYP girl groups, so it’s not difficult to notice the similarities.
However, the choreography of these 3 songs are all done by the famous choreographer, Kiel Tutin. Therefore, fans started to show their dissatisfaction and suspect Kiel Tutin of recycling the dance moves, even asking him to stop repeating this habit. Shortly after, choreographer Kiel Tutin spoke out against the criticism on his Instagram story.
