Park Seo Joon rumored to play a queer character in “The Marvels”, marking his Hollywood debut

Unconfirmed information about Park Seo Joon’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has surfaced.

Park Seo Joon, who became one of the most sought-after Korean actors thanks to the success of K-dramas such as “She Was Pretty”, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”, “Itaewon Class”, has been confirmed to make his Hollywood debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He has finished filming his scenes for Marvel Studios’ movie “The Marvels”, the sequel to “Captain Marvel”, that is set to hit theaters next year.

Although the filming has wrapped up for some time, Park Seo Joon’s character in “The Marvels” still remains unannounced by Marvel Studios. However, recently, rumors surfaced that the star of “Itaewon Class” was selected to play Noh-Varr.

After the 2022 San Diego Comic Con took place over the weekend, where details about phase 5 of the MCU were revealed, a well-known fan update account of Marvel on Twitter reported that Park Seo Joon will take on the role of Noh-Varr in “The Marvels”.

Although fans still need to wait for the first teaser of “The Marvels” to drop to confirm this information, the possibility of Park Seo Joon playing Noh-Varr has sparked great excitement.

Specifically, in Marvel Comics, Noh-Varr is a superhero who is genetically enhanced with cockroach DNA, giving him the superior reflexes, speed, toleration, and physical strength that break the limits of an ordinary human being. Notably, Noh-Varr is also openly bisexual and has had love lines with both men and women.

With Park Seo Joon joining the MCU cast and him presumably playing Noh-Varr, fans are showing anticipation for not only more Asian representation but also queer representation in the upcoming phase of the world’s biggest film franchise.
