As one of the TV series that gathers the top handsome actors in Korea, “Hwarang: The Beginning” is one of the most famous works of 2016. It revolves around an elite group of young men called Hwarang, who discover their passion, friendship, and love in the turmoil of the Silla Kingdom.

Hwarang: The Beginning

It’s been 5 years since the drama “Hwarang: The Beginning” aired, and the drama cast is thriving in their careers. Do you want to know what these talented actors are up to right now?

Park Seo Joon

Park Seo Joon is the most successful actor in the main cast of Hwarang: The Beginning.  In the drama, Park Seo Joon plays Moo Myung – a multi-talented and ambitious man.

After the drama ended, the actor tried out for roles in a variety of works, including “Fight for My Way,” “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” and “Itaewon Class.” Park Seo Joon’s name has risen to greater levels as a result of these roles. He rose to become Korea’s top A-list actor.

Hwarang: The Beginning

In the near future, Park Seo Joon will begin his journey to join the Hollywood screen as he is confirmed to play the main role in the superhero movie – The Marvels.  At the same time, the actor has two more works expected to come out soon, Concrete Utopia and Dream.

Go Ara

As the only flower in the flower forest of Hwarang, along with Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik, Go Ara created the sweetest love triangle on Korean screens.

After the drama’s success, Go Ara teamed up with Song Seung Heon for OCN’s Black.  In 2018, she played a brave and kind judge alongside idol actor Kim Myung Soo in JTBC’s Miss Hammurabi.  Go Ara’s latest drama is KBS2’s Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol in 2020.

In 2021, she still has not received any projects of her own besides a special cameo role in the hit drama Hospital Playlist.

Park Hyung Sik

Park Hyung Sik plays the young and ambitious king when he joins Hwarang.

Following Hwarang: The Beginning, Park Hyung Sik starred in the romantic comedy Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, in which he received critical acclaim for his cuteness and sense of humor. Furthermore, Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young’s chemistry created a buzz as they are so cute.

Park Hyung Sik starred in Suits, a Korean drama adaptation of the popular American television series, in 2018. He enlisted in the army just a few months after Suits launched.

In early 2021, the actor completed his military service and participated in the TV series Happiness.  The drama started filming in May. Although the official broadcast date has not been decided yet, the drama has received great attention from the public.

Choi Minho

As one of the talented Hwarangs, Minho has won the hearts of the audience thanks to his good looks and cheerful personality.

Hwarang: The Beginning

After Hwarang: The Beginning ended, Minho immediately made a comeback with 18 Again followed by The Most Beautiful Goodbye.

Currently, the male idol is causing a buzz when appearing in tvN’s Yumi’s Cells with Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun.  In addition, Minho will appear in another drama called Goosebumps.

Kim Tae Hyung (BTS V)

Hwarang: The Beginning was the first movie that the global idol participated in, but at that time, BTS V was very well received by the public for his acting skills.

Hwarang: The Beginning

V embodies his real-life personality in Hwarang Han Sung, who is cheerful and good-natured. The male idol, on the other hand, is the character in the Hwarang cast who must die the earliest. His tragic ending breaks the hearts of the audience.

After the success of Hwarang, V has yet to participate in any movie but focuses on his idol career with BTS members. Indeed not only ARMYs but also dramaholics are waiting for the return of actor Kim Tae Hyung.

Do Ji Han

In the movie, Do Ji Han plays Ban Ryu – a character who always craves power.  Although Ban Ryu is built to be a cold man, he is adorable when being with his girlfriend.

After participating in Hwarang: The Beginning, Do Ji Han appeared in the dramas Lovers in Bloom and 100 Days My Prince.  Although not the male lead, Do Ji Han is still highly appreciated for his acting ability.

Although Hwarang: The Beginning aired five years ago, it remains a fond memory for many moviegoers. Hopefully, the cast will reunite in the future for a new project.
