New update on Seungri, who was supposed to be released from prison on Feb 11th, has been delivered
Seungri, a former member of the idol group Big Bang, was released from Yeoju Prison on the morning of February 9th.
According to a report by JTBC, Seungri, whose imprisonment was scheduled to end on February 11th, has already been released from prison this morning (February 9th).
At that time, he admitted to 9 charges, such as prostitution, embezzlement, assault, violation of the Food Sanitation Act., violation of the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act., habitual gambling, etc.
The court demanded a 5-year imprisonment for Seungri at the first trial held in May 2021. In August of the same year, the Common Military Court sentenced him to three years in prison.
In January 2022, the second trial conducted by the High Military Court revealed the sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison for Seungri. Later in May, the Supreme Court officially confirmed the imprisonment sentence of 1 year and 6 months for Seungri.
Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon were imprisoned for up to 5 years & 2 years and 6 months, respectively, in 2019. Jung Joon Young’s imprisonment will expire in April 2024, while Choi Jong Hoon was already released from prison in November 2021.
