CJ ENM is reportedly working with Netflix U.S to prepare for a remake of “Crash Landing On You”.
On Nov 4th, Studio Dragon CEO Kang Chul-koo answered The Daily that, “We are in the final stage of a contract with Netflix U.S. for a remake of “Crash Landing On You”.”
“Crash Landing On You” is a Korean drama aired on tvN in 2019 about the love story between Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) who is the heir to a South Korean conglomerate who accidentally crash landed in North Korea due to a paragliding accident, and Lee Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin), an officer of the North Korean army who tried to hide and protect Se-ri. In addition, the love line between North Korean elite Seo Dan (Seo Ji-hye) and British businessman Koo Seung-jun (Kim Jong-hyun) was also a fan’s favorite.
As a result, the final episode of this series, which was aired on Feb 16th 2020, recorded an average rating of 21,7% and a maximum of 24,1%, ranking #1 in tvN drama history.
“Crash Landing On You” has been released worldwide through Netflix, gaining huge as it remained in the top 10 for 229 days in Japan and ranked #6 in the U.S in the 4th week of March, 2020. It was also mentioned in the U.S. weekly magazine “Observer” alongside many world-famous drama series, ranking #6 among tv shows on Netflix U.S., and even selected as a “recommended international series to watch” by The Washington Post.
