Actress Han So-hee once again showed her new possibility with a new appearance.
The Netflix series “My Name,” which was released on Oct 15th, is outstanding. According to the tally by Flix Patrol, a global OTT platform content ranking site, “My Name” ranked 4th worldwide as of Oct 18th. “My Name”, starring promising actors such as Han So-hee, Park Hee-soon, Ahn Bo-hyun, and Kim Sang-ho, tells the harsh story of revenge in which Ji-woo (played by Han So-hee) entered the mafia organization and infiltrated the police under a new name to find the culprit who killed her father.
Ji-woo, played by Han So-hee, the main character of “My Name,” is an unfortunate character who witnesses her father being murdered on her birthday. The death of her one and only father in the world leads to her blaming herself, which develops into a pledge to find and revenge the criminal who killed her father. She is “willing to be a monster and condemn it”.
#From Han Sohee to Jiwoo.
Han So-hee showed off her skill by playing Ji-woo, a high school student stuck under the stigma of “a gangster’s daughter” who didn’t even know how to properly express her loneliness. Han So-hee threw away her usual “pretty” character with little to no makeup on in order to melt into the desperate character.
Han So-hee, who has been loved by the public for her splendid visuals, calmly depicts Ji-woo, who decided to throw herself away instead of collapsing in front of the tragedy. Through this drama, a new side of actress Han So-hee‘s was born.
#From Ji-woo to Hye-jin
To catch the criminal who killed her father, Ji-woo eventually becomes a member of the mafia organization and infiltrates the police under the name of Hye-jin. It’s hard to imagine the scenes in which Ji-woo – a high schooler – wins the bloody battle against large gang members and subdues brutal criminals alone.
Han So-hee said that she gained about 10kg by exercising for the action scenes in this work. Director Kim Jin-min also praised and showed support for her, “Han So-hee has continuously attended the action school to receive training. You can see that there are almost no scenes that need a body double. The biggest success factor of “My Name” is that Han So-hee did her best without hesitation.“
“My Name” is not only Han So-hee‘s first action drama, but also a noir revenge film that is different from the romance genre she has been challenging so far. Rather than a brutal revenge play, “My Name” can be seen as Ji-woo’s growth story. Han So-hee‘s intense emotional acting, which gradually darkens and changes depending on her different names in the work, also stands out.
Han So-hee led the drama with her incisive acting skills throughout 8 episodes. As “My Name” was released in 190 countries and became known worldwide, the viewers are focusing on what kind of new faces she will show in the future.
