Military Manpower Administration denies SM’s statement about EXO Kai’s enlistment

The Military Manpower Administration denies changes in regulations for EXO Kai’s enlistment as stated by SM.

On May 3rd, SM Entertainment unexpectedly announced that EXO Kai will enlist on May 11th due to changes in the regulations by the Military Manpower Administration.

However, the next day, the Military Manpower Administration affirmed that “there have been no changes in the regulations. Both commoners and celebrities can postpone their enlistment up to 5 times (within 2 years). There are many reasons for postponing enlistment, including ‘other reasons,’ which can be used 2 times out of the total 5 allowed.”

Regarding the difference between the company’s stance and the Military Manpower Administration, SM stated, “There has been a change in the rules, but it is not applicable to every case. This is a situation where we cannot postpone any further.

EXO Kai will enlist at the Basic Military Training Center and become a public service worker on May 11th.
