It was an English translation of a Korean apology that the broadcast station published ealier. When MBC first apologized in Korean, some people suggested that it should also apologize in the language of the countries concerned.

However, it did not issue this apology in any language other than English. And as in the previous apology in Korean, it did not clearly state which countries it caused damage to. Thus, there is still a critical public opinion towards MBC.

Earlier, during the live broadcast of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, MBC used a photo of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant to introduce the Ukraine team. In addition, public opinion also criticized MBC’s use of some inappropriate photos when mentioning other countries.
