Looking back at Dispatch Jan 1st tradition, who will be the main couple this year?

Since 2013, Dispatch has turned every January 1st into a traditional day on which a couple of Korean showbiz will be disclosed.

To a K-pop fan, January 1st is not just the first day of a new year, but also a day for Dispatch – a famous paparazzi page – to reveal a hidden couple in the Korean entertainment industry. Dispatch’s information is mostly accurate with clear photos and videos, leaving the main couple with nothing but to accept the rumor.

Since 2013, Dispatch has turned this into an annual tradition, making every K-pop fan anxious. With 2019 less than 1 month away, along with the question who will be Dispatch’s next target, let’s take a look at Dispatch’s previous “January 1st” star couples, shall we?

January 1st, 2013: Bi Rain – Kim Tae Hee

The year 2013 started with the dating news of famous singer Bi Rain and South Korea’s beauty icon, actress Kim Tae-hee. Aside from the pictures of their dates, Dispatch even specifically described that they met and fall for each other after starring together in a commercial in Oct 2011. However, after the news broke out, Bi Rain enlisted in the army and their relationship came to a halt. But even in the army, Rain still try to keep in touch and express his love for the actress. After that, their relationship officially started. It is known that at the time Dispatch reveal the dating news, the couple has been with each other for a month.

January 1st, 2014: Yoona – Lee Seung Gi

Dispatch continued to succeed in shaking the whole industry by revealing the relationship of goddess Yoona and “nation’s son-in-law” Lee Seung Gi. Dispatch had been following them since 2013 and revealed that they have been dating for 9 months at the time the news got out.

Yoona and Lee Seung Gi is one of the few couples that get approved by the public. However, it was a shame that their relationship ended after 2 years.

January 1st, 2015: Lee Jung Jae – Im Se Ryung

When the dating news of actor Lee Jung Jae – who has starred in countless famous movies such as Along With The Gods, The Handmaid,…- got out, not a lot of K-pop fans cared about this couple because the lady is quite unfamiliar. But to South Korean people, this is shocking news because Im Se Ryung is the daughter of Daesang Corporation. Because she is the ex-wife of Lee Jae Yong – son of Samsung Corp’s ex-president, their dating news caught a lot of attention and was the main gossiping topic of the whole nation, turning Dispatch into a high-quality paparazzi page.

The couple is still dating.

January 1st, 2016: Xia Junsu – Hani

2016, Dispatch returned with the dating news of Hani and Junsu. This immediately became a hot issue because Hani at that time was a member of an up-and-coming girl group, and Junsu is her colleague and an ex-member of the legendary DBSK. According to Dispatch, they have been together for 6 months.

However, in September 2016, they admit their break-up with the press.

January 1st, 2017: Dispatch didn’t reveal any couple due to the political issues of ex-President Park Geun Hye.

January 1st, 2018: G-Dragon – Lee Joo Yeon

After countless attempt at posting GD’s dating photos, in 2018 Dispatch officially turned GD into their main character by disclosing his dating photo with After School’s ex-member Lee Joo Yeon. Sadly, this couple is Dispatch’s first failure because it failed to draw public attention. Many teased that Dispatch quality had gone down because they cannot even take a picture of the couple, only pictures of Joo Yeon going with GD’s manager or GD standing next to her car.

Humiliated, Dispatch broke the rules by disclosing another couple, Lee Joon and Jung So Min. The couple met each other through a movie called “Father is Stranger”. Also in 2018, Dispatch had a new rival in celebrities’ dating news, The Fact.
