Lisa (BLACKPINK) officially debuted at Billboard Hot 100: The rankings were not as expected, Billboard caused a confusing confusion

Although the song ‘LALISA’ by Lisa (BLACKPINK) did not debut solo at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, the song also achieved good results on 2 other Billboard charts.

On September 10, Lisa (BLACKPINK) officially made her solo debut with the first single album “LALISA” with the title song of the same name. However, it seems that because the selection of a song is not really suitable, this song still causes some controversy in terms of digital music achievements.

However, with the support from fans, Lisa was finally able to safely debut in the system of 3 Billboard charts: Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl US. Although the Billboard Hot 100 chart ranking was lower than expected, it is still a good achievement for a female K-pop solo artist. Let’s take a look at the ranking of ‘LALISA’.

On September 20 (US time), Billboard announced in advance the rankings of the Top 10 and some new debut charts at the Billboard Hot 100 – the chart that ranks the most popular songs in the US in all music genres and is based on streaming, radio broadcasts, and song sales. Thereby, the song “LALISA” had a debut at No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the week to the end of September 25.

‘LALISA’ debuted at No.6 and the b-side song ‘Money’ also debuted at No.8 of this week’s Billboard Digital Song Sales chart. Thus, Lisa became the first and only female Kpop solo artist to have 2 songs in the Top 10 of the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart.

‘LALISA’ also debuted at No.1 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart (this chart counts sales but does not include products in the US, unlike Billboard Digital Song Sales).  Lisa is the 5th solo female Kpop artist to lead this chart after Jennie, IU, Younha and CL.

In addition to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, below are the achievements of ‘LALISA’ at the Billboard Global 200 chart and the Billboard Global Excl chart.

Initially when announcing the ranking of ‘LALISA’ on the Billboard charts, Billboard named Lisa as LiSA.  This is not the way of writing Lisa’s stage name, but that of female singer LiSA from Japan. Even in the analysis, they also misrepresented Lisa’s song to a Japanese female singer’s song. This made many fans angry because Billboard did not respect and did not learn about the artist cảefully. After that, Billboard had to change Lisa’s name on the chart and correct the wrong information.
