Lee Seung Gi revealed his stance through his legal representative as HOOK Entertainment failed to settle Lee Seung Gi’s music revenue.
On November 24th, Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative said, “First of all, we would like to apologize for causing concern to many people due to the issue between Lee Seung Gi and his agency”.
They continued, “We would like to express our position on the recent report about the unsettled music revenue on behalf of Lee Seung Gi”.
Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative explained, “On November 15th, we sent a certification of content related to the settlement of music fees to HOOK Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as ‘HOOK’) and asked them to disclose details of profits from the distribution of all the albums that Lee Seung Gi participated in. Based on that, we asked HOOK to settle unpaid music revenue for Lee Seung Gi”.
“Lee Seung Gi has been working under HOOK for 18 years since his debut while fully trusting and following HOOK in terms of entertainment activities and settlements”, they added, “Throughout that time, HOOK did not mention anything about music revenue, so Lee Seung Gi also did not know if his music activities generated profits or not. Lee Seung Gi only found out about his music profits through a text message mistakenly sent to him by a HOOK employee.”
They went on saying, “Lee Seung Gi asked for the settlement several times, but HOOK avoided providing details by making several false excuses, such as ‘You’re a minus singer’”.
“In the process, Lee Seung Gi heard insulting remarks and threats from his agency’s CEO”, Lee Seung Gi’s representative added, “Regardless of the issue of music revenue settlement, judging that his trust and relationship with HOOK and CEO Kwon Jin Young, whom he had relied on for a long time, could not continue, Lee Seung Gi decided to send the content certification through a legal representative.”
Lastly, they explained, “In addition to the settlement of music revenue, Lee Seung Gi plans to conduct a thorough examination of the legal relationship between him and HOOK as well as CEO Kwon Jin Young”, adding “We already requested HOOK to disclose Lee Seung Gi’s overall entertainment activity sales and settlement details many times.
