On September 6, Kwon Mina made a post on her Instagram. She wrote “Happy Birthday to you” and attached photos taken with her non-celebrity boyfriend.

Kwon Mina was making a heart post with her boyfriend in the photos. However, people are paying attention to the burning cigarette in her hand.

Therefore, based on the background, netizens have found out that Kwon Mina took her photo at a hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Immediately, the singer was intensely criticized for her action of smoking in a hotel room. It is because netizens pointed out that all the rooms in this hotel are non-smoking rooms, and smoking is only allowed in designated external places.

Many people raised suspicions and asked, “Didn’t you quit smoking?” and she denied “Yes, I don’t smoke”. However, amidst the storm of criticism, she deleted the controversial photo and only left the one with the cigarette that hadn’t been burned.

Netizens continued to voice harsh criticisms towards Kwon Mina, saying, “You said you quitted it, so why are you smoking again?”, “What if people like you set the hotel on fire?”, “Please explain why you are smoking in a non-smoking area”, “I thought this hotel only allows smoking at the booths on the 1st floor; they have a smoking room, too?”, “Smoking is against the rules”,…

In particular, a netizen called the hotel to make a complaint and reported the case by sending these photos to the hotel through e-mail as evidence. Therefore, the hotel apologized for their lack of management and also thanked the netizen for the report.

According to Korea’s laws, indoor smoking is subjected to a fine of 100,000 won for violating the National Health Promotion Act.
