Recently, Kwon Mina revealed her new boyfriend. However, this man was immediately accused of having an affair with Mina while he was dating another girl.
After denying the accusations of being a side chick, Kwon Mina spoke up to defend herself and her boyfriend. The female idol revealed that she has gotten slut-shaming just because she started a relationship via DM.
“Anyone who has ever texted me knows that if I find a message that suits me, I will reply, regardless of whether it is male or female. I respond to people who support me and have the same experience as me. If I want to answer then I will, just sooner or later. So why am I getting slut-shaming just for replying to [my boyfriend’s] texts? Why am I being called a slut? Why am I accused of seducing a non-celebrity?”
Kwon Mina also revealed that she was being threatened by the ex-girlfriend’s father:
“His ex-girlfriend’s dad is sending me some serious threatening texts. Why? It is not that I am not at fault in this incident. But why did he say that he was coming to kill me? Why am I the slut in this story? Why is everyone talking about my cervical cancer diagnosis, like it’s because I’m a bitch? My doctor can confirm that it is due to stress. Why, why, why do I have to put up with these malicious messages?”
According to Mina, the death threats were aimed at both her and her boyfriend. She gets scared and begs the ex-girlfriend’s father to stop:
“I’m so confused right now, I don’t know what to say. I can’t wait until this is over. And about that ex-girlfriend… Honestly, I don’t know who she is or what kind of person she is. But I do know: Her dad sent me shocking text messages. He threatened me: ‘If you don’t delete the post(s) in 10 minutes, I will…’ And I’m trying to understand. Yes, he must be very sad because his daughter’s heart is broken. Maybe he wanted to express his frustration with angry text messages to me. I’m sure if my father were here, he would be very sad for me too.”
“Certainly… But those texts were too scary for both me and Joon Young, my boyfriend. Neither of us has a father, but we do have mothers. Our mothers are watching too. We are precious children to our parents. So please… Don’t cross the line or threaten us anymore.”

• July 3, 2020: Joon Young sent a comforting message to Kwon Mina about the bullying scandal in AOA, the female idol did not reply.
• June 10, 2021: Kwon Mina replied at dawn, explaining that she had only read the message at that time. In the afternoon of the same day, the female idol asked Joon Young to draw a picture and promised to come pick it up when she had free time.
