Kpop’s living doll through the years: Is BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Somi or Jessica the most worthy idol of this title?
BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Somi and ex-SNSD Jessica are often called “living dolls” by fans thanks to their mesmerizing visuals with blonde hair.
“Living doll”, a common nickname with the feelings of pampering and appreciation in it, is often given to Kpop female idols. Thanks to her worldwide popularity, Lisa is probably the most typical example when it comes to idols with doll-like appearances. But throughout the generations of Kpop, there are two other idols who are also given this lovely nickname by fans: Somi and Jessica. Who among the three is the most worthy of the title “living doll”?
Somi
Representing the future visuals of Kpop, Somi is a part of the potential idol lineup of the 4th generation that is on the rise and shining radiantly. Ever since she dyed her hair blonde, fans can’t stop admiring Somi’s flawless mixed-race beauty. Whenever she wears bright-colored contact lenses, glitter makeup looks and fancy hair accessories, it looks like Somi turns into a Barbie doll. With her beauty that is getting more mature, Somi truly “owns” the nickname “living doll”.
Lisa
Similar to Somi, Lisa is appreciated for the mixed-race visual, especially her big and round eyes with double eyelids. BLACKPINK’s maknae also has attractive thick, full lips, especially when wearing red lipstick. During the early days of her debut, Lisa gained huge attention on social media with the moments of her looking pretty like a doll yet equally cool in the girl-crush concept. Perhaps, Lisa and Somi are currently the strongest “competitors” for the “Kpop’s living doll” title.
Jessia Jung
Before Lisa and Somi, Jessica when she was active with SNSD was also often called “Barbie doll” thanks to her blonde hair during the group’s comeback with the hit “Oh!”. This era was probably one of the peak days of Jessica’s visual. The former member of SNSD consistently topped the rankings of the most beautiful female idols with blonde hair. Jessica’s blonde hair was always taken good care of, curled prettily everytime she appeared. So if Kpop’s 2nd generation has a representative for this nickname, it has to be Jessica.
