In Korea, the YouTube English channel Pinkfong, which has the famous video ‘Baby Shark’, along with BLACKPINK and BTS, are 3 channels with 50 million subscribers to get the nickname ‘3B’. It proved the global phenomenon K-pop is expanding into the K-content field where the whole family can enjoy it together.

‘Pinkfong Baby Shark – Kids’ Songs & Stories’ surpassed 50 million subscribers on June 29. This is the first achievement made by a Korean kids brand. The English studying YouTube channel Smart Study Pinkfong has been growing at an average annual subscriber growth rate of 30% since achieving the ‘Diamond Play Button’ with 10 million subscribers in August 2018.

In October last year, more than four years after its debut, BLACKPINK won the ‘50 million Award’ with 50 million YouTube subscribers. It has gained explosive popularity not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas market, with 63.6 million subscribers to BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel as of this August.

In 2018, the epic ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ was released. The music video has surpassed 1.6 billion views and the choreography video has surpassed 400 million views until this August. The music video for ‘Ice Cream’, a song with world-renowned pop star Selena Gomez, also recently reached 600 million views. In addition, BLACKPINK has been breaking various new records by showing hundreds of millions of views including ‘Kill This Love’ (1.3 billion views), ‘BOOMBAYAH’ (1 billion views), ‘As If It’s Your Last’ and ‘How You Like That’ (900 million views).

BTS‘ official YouTube channel ‘BANGTANTV’ is also a YouTube strong guy with 55.8 million subscribers until this August. BTS is continuing its multi-billion views including ‘MIC Drop’ remix, which surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube on the 26th of last month. ‘DNA’ and ‘Boy With Luv’ (Feat. Halsey) recorded 1.3 billion views and ‘Dynamite’ 1.1 billion views, respectively.

In particular, BTS is actively using YouTube as a channel to communicate with fans by holding a Permission to Dance Challenge for people to freely dance to Permission to Dance. This song is their latest song which topped the Billboard main single chart. The dance challenge will be held on YouTube’s short-form video service ‘YouTube Shorts’ until the 14th. To take the challenge, users upload a 15-second video using ‘Permission to Dance’ as background music to dance along. Some of the challenge videos selected by BTS will be introduced later through compilation videos. The challenge is receiving high responses from global fans.
