Korean netizens called BTS Jungkook’s “backdoor advertising” controversy the stupidest case of the year!

After reading the response from the Trade Commission on the case of Jungkook (BTS) being suspected of “backdoor advertising”, many Korean netizens called this the ‘stupidest’ controversy of the year.

Recently, Jungkook (BTS) was involved in a controversy regarding ‘backdoor advertising’ (뒷광고). Accordingly, Jungkook got into a controversy surrounding the issue of “under the table advertising” and “false advertising” related to the Six6uys brand.  Previously, he held the position of internal director of the Lamodechief brand under Six6uys while Jungkook’s brother – Jeon Junghyun, was the CEO. As he had been seen wearing the products without disclosing the news that he was related to the brand, some netizens believe this is an act of product promotion without transparency. An anonymous person even had submitted to the Korean Fair Trade Commission about the incident.

In this regard, an official from the Korea Fair Trade Commission said to Hankyung.com, “Based on what has been released so far, it is difficult to considered Jungkook’s action as a backdoor advertisement“. The most important that helps to identify “backdoor advertising” is ‘deception’, which may vary depending on specific relationships. However, as Jungkook didn’t mention anything, it’s hard to find any sign of deception in this case.”

In fact, right after the controversy erupted, many Korean netizens believed that Jungkook did nothing wrong as he had the right to wear whatever he wanted and he didn’t even mention the brand. Jungkook, on the other hand, has frequently promoted other brands and small businesses for free, rather than solely for his family.

As a result, many netizens assumed that the filing of a complaint against Jungkook was an antifan’s attempt to make a big deal out of it in order to smear Jungkook in particular and BTS in general. After receiving a response from the Fair Trade Commission, many people demanded that Big Hit investigate and sue those who slandered and harmed the male idol’s reputation.

Some comments from Knetizens:

  • Why are people creating so much bullsh*t just to involve Bangtan?
  • Hey guys, Jungkook didn’t even mention his clothes, and the fans didn’t even care about it… Leave Jungkook alone
  • What is Big Hit doing? The antis are doing it systematically
  • I guess Jungkook should get naked
  • Those ajummas from those trash galleries are dividing themselves like cockroaches, so cringe
  • Is it such a big deal that people are leaving this many comments;; Do people who use the ‘under the table advertising’ not know what it means and are just running around brainlessly calling it ‘under the table’? This or they’re desperately trying to scratch him;;
  • Seriously this is dumbfoundingㅠㅠ  Don’t touch Jungkook
  • Those r*tards from hate galleries are doing this all the time, but they’re seriously at the level of Tajinyo. you guys can pretend like you’re normal and all that, but you just look crazy
  • If this is considered under the table advertisement, then all of the luxury brands that they wore without being sponsored by them are also just under the table advertisement?ㅋ
  • Is this for real? Isn’t it a good thing that he’s helping small businesses? And it’s his own brother’s business on top of itㅠㅠ
  • Bighit sue them all, reveal who is the person who contacted the journalist and sue them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • What is under the table advertisement to them?ㅋㅋㅋ Then when Namjoon is wearing Hybe’s track suit, he’s doing over the table advertisement…? Since he owns the stocks of his own companyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
  • Wow it’s my first time knowing that Jungkook’s hyung had a company even after 5 years of fangirling on themㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ This is such a fabricated controversy.
  • Big Hit, please sue those antis ㅠㅠ
  • Fair Trade Commission, don’t waste your time with this stupid controversy!!!!
