Golden Disc Awards – the awards ceremony is considered as Grammy of Korea – announced the nomination. Surprisingly, no girl group qualified as the nominee for the Rookie of the Year award.
On December 10, the 35th Golden Disc Awards (GDA) ceremony announced nominations in four categories of digital music, album, rookie, and popularity (Popularity Awards). This is a prestigious award ceremony, dubbed the “Korean Grammy”, so it is expected by the Kpop fan community.

To be nominated, the song and album must be released between November 2019 and November 2020. Albums are only qualified if they have at least 6 tracks (excluding intro, outro, and background music), soundtrack and project track from the TV show do not count. The results also took digital music data and hard disk as of mid-December.
The 35th GDA Awards nominated 30 artists in the album and digital music categories. Normally, 10 artists are receiving the Bonsang Award, the Daesang award is awarded to the highest performer among them. This year, the album and digital music segment is considered a race between BTS and BLACKPINK, but the Big Hit male group has a bigger advantage because of the outstanding album sales and a series of records from the nominated song, Dynamite.
