Knet “points out” Kpop songs suspected of plagiarizing US-UK music: Taeyeon, TWICE, aespa are named

Taeyeon, aespa, TWICE were named, Knet are strict or whether Kpop are losing their own features?

These days, on many Kpop forums in Korea, there is always a buzz about whether current Kpop songs are trying to create the same melody as US-UK stars in order to reach the higher goal – the Billboard chart. A lot of famous artists have been pointed out by Knet such as Taeyeon, aespa, STAYC and even TWICE

After the comeback of Taeyeon (SNSD) with the song “Weekend” on July 6, many people quickly realized that SNSD leader’s hit had a very familiar melody, it was even pointed out to sound like a mix between 2 hits of Doja Cat, Say So and Kiss Me More. It was indicated by Knet that not only in the song’s melody but also in the concept of the MV contains some parts that are very similar to Doja Cat.

Not only Taeyeon faces the criticism, SM’s rookie aespa, although having been carefully invested on a large scale, but the debut song Black Mamba received reviews from netizens that it is very similar to a music product by a German musician named Timo Helgert.

Another name mentioned in this controversial topic is STAYC – a rookie considered the rival of aespa. With the “launching” song “So Bad”, which was widely influential because it was composed by the famous producer Black Eyed Pilseung, STAYC quickly received the attention of the public.

With this seemingly attractive topic, Knet left many controversial comments:

– But it’s true, the songs sound very similar.

– What are all of you talking about? Taeyeon’s new song doesn’t sound like Doja Cat at all.

– Honestly, the songs have the same melody, and this makes me feel embarrassed.

– I don’t think this is the problem. Even without Billboard, they will try to request a copy of the original to create fame for themselves.

– Why do you only focus on SM’s music? Even TWICE’s I Can’t Stop Me reminds me of Dua Lipa’s Physical.

– But foreigners also think Taeyeon’s song is similar to Doja Cat’s hit, just see the comments on Taeyeon’s Instagram.

– I can’t figure out what all of you are thinking. Are you listening to music with their noses?
