Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) and Ko Yu Rim (Bona) are each other’s driving force in the journeys to achieve their dreams.
Aside from the story of Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) and the male lead Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk), the relationship between Na Hee Do and Ko Yu Rim (WJSN’s Bona) is also an enjoyable part of “Twenty Five, Twenty One.”
Both Na Hee Do and Ko Yu Rim are passionate about fencing and are willing to give it all to fulfill their dreams. But jealousy and past trauma has a negative impact on one of them.
Na Hee Do – a girl who works hard to be like her idol but ends up getting hurt.
Na Hee Do is an innocent, cheerful girl with a strong fighting spirit, dedication and love towards fencing. But instead of dreaming of owning a gold medal, she has a dream of becoming a rival to her idol, Ko Yu Rim.
Admiring Yu Rim since childhood because of her achievements in fencing, Hee Do watches all videos of Yu Rim, so she understands all the strategies and weaknesses of Yu Rim.
Hee Do is so determined she wants to enter the world of Yu Rim – Taeyang High School to get closer to her dream. Hee Do hides in the window just to watch her “crush” practicing while smiling. She is also willing to get wet in the rain to give Yu Rim an umbrella.
But the ugly truth is, Yu Rim treats Hee Do badly. That’s why Hee Do has now gone from a fan to someone who wants to be Yu Rim’s rival.
Ko Yu Rim – Hee Do’s “injeolmi”
Hee Do, without a reputation in the fencing community, grew up in an ordinary family background, so it seems that her big dreams are not within reach. When they were kids, Ko Yu Rim even lost to Hee Do and Hee Do didn’t even know it.
Yu Rim was jealous of Hee Do because she won against her, or because Hee Do has a mother who is an announcer and a good family background, or simply Hee Do’s shoes. Treating Hee Do harshly, but Yu Rim is actually not a bad girl. Hee Do’s Injeolmi is Yu Rim, which is Yu Rim’s nickname online. Meanwhile, Hee Do’s nickname is Ryder37 – her favorite character in Full House. That’s right, two best pals in a chat room turn out to be rivals.
Ko Yu Rim used to represent the beautiful youth of Na Hee Do, her dream and motivation, but high expectations often come with disappointment, the person Hee Do hates the most now has become Yu Rim.
Just like Hee Do said, Yu Rim doesn’t know anything about her, also because Yu Rim still hasn’t accepted the truth and acknowledged Do’s efforts.
“Twenty Five, Twenty One” is truly a spirited coming-of-age drama, where we get to watch a cheerful Hee Do who is not afraid to fall, or a Yu Rim who is terrified of failure and does not have enough courage to face the truth.
