Recently, a billboard celebrating Jungkook’s birthday in Pakistan was removed for allegedly “promoting homosexuality” and spreading vulgar content.
These days, fans and the public have sent birthday wishes to BTS Jungkook. It is known that the male Idol has been congratulated by more than 330 accounts with blue ticks on Twitter. Recently, Jungkook also achieved a new record when becoming the first Kpop artist to reach #1 on Twitter in 208 countries.
Recently, an ad was displayed at a busy intersection in the city of Gujranwala, Pakistan after an ARMY received the Chamber of Commerce’s permission to put a billboard of Jungkook up in celebration of his 24th birthday, which was on September 1. ARMYs were thrilled to see photographs of this billboard on social media, and some fans expressed interest in visiting it in person.
Sadly, however, the billboard was taken down within hours after Furqan Aziz Butt, a candidate for the Punjab Council, asked the owner to take it down.
“We took it off later that same day in the evening. When we saw the ad while removing it, we didn’t really get what it was about, just that it showed someone’s face. Furqan Aziz Butt from the Jamaat-e-Islami had told us to take the ad off immediately.” – Younus Mughal – the owner of the billboard – said.
The ad had been brought to Furqan Aziz Butt’s attention in a Facebook group. Sharing with the Vice World News, Furqan Aziz Butt said he “had received a lot of complaints from people” about the ad.
Furqan Aziz Butt further stated that the ad was taken down because BTS “has a negative influence” on the young people of Gujranwala.
“There are young people in this city. This group (BTS) has a negative influence on them and encourages them to behave in wrong activities. They promote homosexuality.”
According to Oul magazine, this is not the first time BTS’s image has been banned for “promoting homosexuality”. In early summer 2021 in Russia, a print shop refused to print the band’s picture for a K-pop themed cafe. The reason given was because they didn’t want “kids to become perverts”.
