During a guest appearance in KBS’s Radio Show, IU revealed that she has a deep fear of water. IU said her fear stemmed from what happened during a game she played on Running Man. Specifically, in the game, IU was free-falling from a diving board into a deep pool. At that time, IU thought she could swim but then realized that she actually couldn’t.
“I thought I could swim. But back then, when I fell into the water, I almost drowned. I felt the fear of falling into water for the first time. I thought I would float. I held my breath and tried to wave my arms around to get above the water, but I couldn’t. I slowly started sinking. I was very terrified” the female singer recounted the frightening experience.
In the episode that the incident took place, episode 168, thanks to choosing the correct number, only Ji Hyo and Gary didn’t have to fall into the deep pool like the rest of the participants.
