IU accused of real estate speculation and getting 2.3 billion won in profit

Singer IU was caught in speculation but her agency immediately denied the accusation.

Media reported that IU was one of those who saw the benefits from the GTX (Great Train eXpress, high-speed subway line project). The singer bought land and buildings in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province for 4.6 billion won last year. Up to now, real estate has increased its price to 6.9 billion won, bringing her a profit of 2.3 billion won.

There are also presidents and CEOs of many companies on the list of investors, but IU’s assets have the strongest increase.

One person in the real estate industry said: “The government offers GTX to control real estate, but that’s what is making real estate’s prices go up. We worry about people trying to profit from the price gap. ”

Although IU’s work is not illegal, netizens think it is quite fishy. Without any inside government policy information on GTX, IU would not think of buying the originally vacant land, and she especially invested a lot of money in the deal.

IU’s agency has responded that the news she benefited from 2.3 billion won by the media is groundless. In the site, IU’s mother’s house, her own studio and training rooms for IU to support her juniors are being built. However, they refused to disclose the specific value/profit of that land at the present time.
