The year–end music festivals of the three broadcast channels KBS, MBC, and SBS are going to conclude the year with excitement and splendor.
Starting with the 2022 KBS Year-end Song Festival (KBS Gayo Daechukje), which will be broadcasted on December 16th, there will be the 2022 SBS Song Festival and the 2022 MBC Song Festival every week, up until the last day of December.
The 2022 KBS Song Festival, which kicks off first, will show the power of Kpop across generations. A previously released teaser video shows the MC trio Kim Shin Young, Jang Won Young, and Na In Woo presenting the theme of “Y2K Sensibility”. In particular, they parody various memorable advertisements that aired in the early 2000s, foreshadowing a festival that encompasses the X and MZ generations.
Here, BoA will present a solo stage which marks her 22nd year of debut, while mix-group Koyote, who swept through the millennium era, will also stun the crowd. In addition, top idol groups who are currently leading Kpop’s global popularity, such as Up10tion’s Kim Woo Seok, NCT127, NCT Dream, Pentagon, The Boyz, fromis_9, Forestella, Stray Kids, (G)I-DLE, IVE, ATEEZ, Choi Yena, ONEUS, ITZY, TXT, ENHYPEN, aespa, Kep1er, STAYC, LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX and NewJeans, will be present.
On top of this, special collaboration stages of 4th generation groups will also be unveiled. In particular, KBS has announced a stage with LE SSERAFIM Chaewon and NMIXX Haewon, a stage with ITZY Yuna, IVE Jang Won Young and (G)I-DLE Miyeon, a stage with STAYC Yoon, (G)I-DLE Yuqi and IVE Liz, as well as a stage with LE SSERAFIM Eunchae, IVE Leeseo, NMIXX Sullyoon, and NewJeans’ Minji and Hyein. A boy group collaboration between THE BOYZ and ONEUS was also teased.
On the other hand, SBS Song Festival will occur on Christmas Eve (December 24th). Under the theme of “THE LIVE: SHOUT OUT”, the festival will be held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, and hosted by SHINee Key, ASTRO Cha Eun Woo, and IVE Ahn Yu Jin.
Here, a special stage with Younha, who is climbing music charts with “Event Horizon”, and (G)I-DLE Minnie and Yuqi, will unfold. 3rd and 4th generations groups such as The Boyz, fromis_9, CRAVITY, TEMPEST, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, (G)I-DLE, ITZY, IVE, NMIXX, NewJeans, TXT, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, aespa, ENHYPEN, and LE SSERAFIM will also take the stage.
Finally, the MBC Song Festival, which will decorate the last day of the year, follows the theme with love and aims to convey a message of union through the power of music and love. The festival will welcome various performing artists, including world-renowned soprano Jo Sumi, Yoon Jong Shin, Jaurim, Koyote, Super Junior’s Ryeowook, Younha, Youngtak, 10CM, Song Ga In, MAMAMOO, Oh My Girl’s Arin, MONSTA X, ASTRO’s Moonbin & Sanha, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, SF9’s Taeyang, Weki Meki’s Choi Yoo Jung, THE BOYZ, FORESTELLA, Stray Kids, (G)I-DLE, Lee Mujin, Chuu, ATEEZ, ITZY, BIG Naughty, Jung Dong Won, BE’O, WEi’s Kim Yo Han, aespa, Billlie, IVE, Kep1er, Choi Ye Na, NMIXX, TEMPEST, and CLASS:y.
Artists under HYBE Labels, which had been rumored to have a “discord” with MBC, regrettably did not make it to the 2022 lineup.
