“Produce X101” contestants are moving in to start the filming in the first week of March.
“Contestants for ‘Produce X101’ will start staying together in early March,” an insider from the cable channel Mnet said on the 19th.
The fourth season of “Produce 101” is titled “Produce X101”. Producer Ahn Joon-young, who has been directing since the 1st season to the latest 3rd season, will be the director again this time. The production team is speeding up preparations for the contestants to start moving in on March 6th and broadcasting in April.
The production team has recruited applicants since the end of last year. The contestant must be male trainees born before March 2005. This season attracted attention as the number of individual trainees has increased significantly compared to the previous series.
“Produce 101” is a trainee survival program that aims to debut as a project idol group. It has been at the center of attention every season. The last episode of season 2 had a viewer rating of 5.197% (based on Nelson Korea’s paid platform). Since then, similar survival programs have been produced on terrestrial channels, but they have yet to exceed the scale of “Produce 101.”
The idol group that was born through the program was also greatly loved. Girl group I.O.I of season 1 (2016), boy group Wanna One of season 2 (2017), and the Korean-Japanese joint girl group IZ*ONE of season 3 (2018) have made their debut. I.O.I ended its activities in January 2017 and Wanna One ended in December last year.
