“The defendant had a lot of skin problems with makeup, so an acquaintance recommended it to him. The criminal element is small, so please consider it,” the lawyer said. “The livelihood of the employees of the agency depends on the decision. New movies and dramas are unfinished so that it can cause enormous damage to the people involved. He stands here with the mind of reflection. Rather than make him impossible to come back, he asked for a fine so that he can return to society.”

Ha Jung Woo said, “Here, I am filled with remorse. My decision was rash. I should have been more careful, be a good model. I apologize for harming my colleagues and family. Though it’s disgraceful and shameless, I promise to be an actor that gives a good influence in the future. I ask for your plea bargain so that I can make up for it.”

In the end, Prosecutors demanded a fine of 10 million won for Ha Jung Woo’s alleged use of propofol.

“I’m so sorry to have caused you so much concern,” Ha Jung Woo told reporters at the entrance to the court ahead of his first trial. “I will try to do it faithfully.”

When asked if he had changed his position that he indeed administered propofol for treatment, Ha replied, “I am sorry.”

Ha Jung Woo had stood in court from January to September 2019 on charges of illegally administering propofol at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul. The prosecution initially judged that Ha JungWoo illegally administered propofol in the name of his brother and manager and indicted him with a fine of 10 million won. Still, the court ruled that legal judgment was necessary and brought him to a formal trial.

“I have told you all the facts during the prosecution’s investigation process,” Ha Jung Woo told the agency’s workhouse company. “I humbly accept the punishment, and even though I needed stricter self-management, I reflected on my complacent judgment. I will continue to crack down on myself and act more carefully.”
