“I was looking forward to it, but…” “Big Mouth” received mixed reactions right from episode 1

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Big Mouth” topped the list of Friday-Saturday dramas.

According to the ratings research company Nielsen Korea on July 30th, “Big Mouth“, which premiered at 10 PM on July 29th, recorded a nationwide rating of 6.2%.

This is lower than 7.0% recorded in the last episode and higher than 5.2% recorded in the first episode of the previous drama “Doctor Lawyer“. In addition, it took first place by beating its rival “Today’s Webtoon” (SBS, 4.1%).

“Big Mouth” tells the story of the underperforming lawyer Park Chang-ho (played by Lee Jong-suk) who gets caught up in a murder case. In order to survive and protect his family, he digs into a huge conspiracy among the privileged upper classes.

In episode 1, Park Chang-ho and Go Mi-ho (played by Yoona), who were living a normal life, hinted at the misfortune that would soon hit them, opening the prelude to the confrontation. The worldview setting that transcends reality and fiction reminded viewers of a lawless world.

Netizens on the online community theqoo showed various reactions such as “I’m tired of legal dramas now”, “I was looking forward to it, but it’s not fun”, “The actors’ performance was great” and “I’ll try watching until episode 2.”
